Tom`s Burger Family Restaurant in San Marcos

I guess they have a Big Rush of Military Members eating here? That's the only way you get a discount. No Discounts for Serving this Country given here unless in uniform. Food is still good but prices have gone up. Looks like George's down the street will get my business.

Such a hit or miss place. Love it or leave it! Why, why, why did you guys change the seasoning on the fries? Enough said.

Things move a little slow around here. Food is not very good. I ask for medium steak and it's well done and dry. Food is very plain. Bathrooms are well kept. Daughter had a strawberry shake and she did not like it.

This is a very decent diner style restaurant with a large menu of simple items that are made very well. You place your order at the register, then your order will be brought to your table. So there is no waitress to take your order, but they bring your food and clear your dishes. We ordered burgers and they were delicious! There is a good amount of booth style seating, but I can imagine that this place would be busy at breakfast and lunch on any weekend. Parking is limited and there is a drive-thru. We will definitely be back and most likely try breakfast next time.

Great place to take the family,, good food, good price, big servings. Place is clean, comfortable, family atmosphere, not a hole in the wall , lots of space. Service was excellent. They care about the quality of their food and service. They didn't key in one item (chicken sandwich) of our 5 person order so didn't charge me. But they remember hearing the order so it was their mistake. They immediately apologized, offered to not charge us and still bring the order to our table. When they did bring the final order that we didn't have to pay for, they also brought us a gift certificate. We tried to refuse saying it was plenty that they made it right. They insisted on giving the giftcard. I can't remember the last time ANY restaurant at ANY price, cared this much about their customers and service. Things like this keep me and my family returning to Tom's again and again over the years. Excellent place to take your family for dinner out.

Good food. Not fancy but hearty. They have a self service area with cups, water, coffee condiments, and a little tub of banana peppers (my favorite part) . Waitresses attend you and they have a couple of televisions. The booths are roomy. *The coffee is consistently good.

Great spot with lots of booths. More than fair prices and the food is good. A much better alternative to Denny's as far as breakfast fare. The Bacon is thick, the coffee strong, eggs cooked to order (most places don't get over medium right) and the service is friendly. Would return.

Can get busy but they have a wide range of options to choose from, i like the burgers

Place has been there a long time and while the food is okay it has gotten to expensive for a grease spoon restaurant. You'll spend 14$ for the tuna melt special. Ridiculous.

A great representative of the Tom's company. The food here is in fact quite delicious. I do suggest going in. You will definitely wait for the drive-through because they make all of their food fresh. At least it tastes like it. I've never stared at the kitchen. But I bet they do.

First time trying Toms and wow! I had the chili dog and classic cheeseburger and it was amazing. A lot of bang for your buck and now my new go to spot. Can’t wait to try more!

Great 50/50 burger, gives Slater's 50/50 a run for the money as it is half the price and just as big. The fried zucchini is always a great substitute for the fries, and the give plenty of ranch dressing without you having to ask or extra charge. They do good daily dinner/lunch special and the prices are better than fair and the portions are generous. The restaurant is clean, very clean bathrooms and the have a drive thru too. A must if you're in the area.

Have never been disappointed at Tom's. Go there at least once a month. Fast service.

Asked for a 50/50 burger and only got the patty what happend to my other 50 tom very disappointed

This place use to be so good and great for a good meal, but now its changed a lot that...I was extremely disappointed. I don't know what happened but the food was different and tasted weird. The hash browns were not fully cooked, the omelette tasted very funny, and unlike before they packed it with tons of veggies when u only order it with meat. They never did that unless asked or when they ask, so that there was a huge no no. They use to go around and see if anything was needed, regardless if it was busy or calm, no instead some look around as if the police where doing a search, not even a hello. Overall this places changed a lot, and not like how it use to be Only great thing about this place was the toast, and jam. That's it...heartbroken! Don't know if new management or plain laziness but it was bad. Miss the good old days :(

Enormous food selections, great prices, food has always been good for us. Fast preparation of food. Good size portions. Great steak sandwiches.

I don't understand how this place stays in business. The food is absolutely terrible. The hash browns taste like dirty sink water, the biscuits and gravy are even worse. My over easy eggs were hard-boiled. The staff is very unfriendly and hard to look at. The woman who gave me my food told me what I ordered and got all up in my face as she handed it to me. She looked like a clown, as if she put her makeup on with a putty knife. I tried to explain that she was missing something and she just walked away and said "yeah". Eventually I got my terrible food and left.

Great values on food, is almost always on point. Great place for hungry teenage kids. My son loves this place.

Probably one of my favorite chili dogs. So hefty, homemade chili, with onions and perfect ratio of cheese. The meat of the dog itself was snappy & full of juice + flavor. Absolutely digged it.

They have a great happy hour menu everyday starting at 2 pm. The food is really good and very affordable. The staff isn't the friendliest. I recommend you check out at least once during their happy hour slot. They have a good selection of discounted food.

Always delicious and reasonable. Great staff, and portions are good. Their hamburgers are like the old fashioned hamburgers were made in the past, not soggy and greasy but crisp and fresh. I have been eating at all Tom's whenever I can find them and am never disappointed. For real.

The food quality has dropped. I ordered steak. It had so much fat and little meat. Not impressed. No one came to my table to ask if i ever needed anything or how the food was. There was loud mexican music coming from kitchen and staff were loud.

Hamburger and fries are great .butn will I eat something other than that again the bean and cheese burrito my daughter ordered was not tasty at all I ordered a fish taco on the side and it was not fresh the tortilla was cold the fish was hard and old and it lacked in flavor

Expansive menu, great prices, good food, and great service.

Burgers are very extremely tasty and the staff is polite. Just sometimes more expensive than I think it should be.

They have the best chicken and waffles I have ever had and let me tell you I know. The waffle is made fresh and the taste is out of this world and the chicken has the best fried crunchy skin on it, it is also moist and juicy. Excellent, excellent and excellent!

A Nice Clean place with a Big menu. The food is made fresh when you order it. The food we had was tasty and not very expensive. Great choice for a after movie snack.

Fast service, friendly staff. The house fries are delicious. Free coffee refills. Lots of specials for breakfast and kids meals.
